Unlike many other glampsites, Oakvale is not a farm. It is simply a beautiful, romantic setting for you to enjoy and make special memories together.
Oakvale is entirely off-grid but this doesn't mean "basic". With careful management of limited resources it is possible to give guests all the comforts of home plus some added luxuries. Many things on site are recycled or up-cycled and continual efforts are made to ensure any impact on the environment and wildlife is minimal.
Lighting is a good example where less is more. Energy efficient LED lighting is used only where essential and turns off automatically. This means that on clear nights the starry sky is spectacular! Great for star gazing and also means minimal effect on the wildlife.
The birds and insects on the site benefit greatly from the wildflower meadow and flowering plants are being routinely added to encourage more varieties of butterflies, moths and bees to visit.
Many of the birds and animals on the site are unafraid of humans and will approach people out of curiousity and sometimes to ask for food. It can be quite an experience to have a wild bird take food from your hand!
The facilities at Oakvale are exceptional. A shepherd's hut immediately adjacent to each yurt provides a private shower room with walk-in shower, basin and flushing toilet. Next door is a fully fitted kitchen with fridge and gas cooker. No sharing. No trekking across a field in the dark. Everything to hand, just where you want it. Quality bed linen and towels ensure every comfort.
A wood-fired hot tub accessed right off the deck, table and chairs for alfresco dining, firepit and reclining sun loungers complete the luxury facilities.
